About ARTA
The Arkansas Retired Teachers Association (ARTA) is the only organization in the state that devotes its interest and efforts exclusively toward improving the welfare of retired school employees. The organization was formed in 1940.
ARTA is affiliated with the National Retired Teachers Association and the AARP. There are approximately 11,000 members and seventy-two active units throughout the state.
One of ARTA’s major objectives is to protect the Arkansas Teacher Retirement System Fund from unwarranted attempts by outside agencies to “borrow” or otherwise appropriate these resources.
Another major objective is to work with the state legislature to improve the status of active and retired school employees, regarding health insurance and other benefits.
ARTA works to improve and maintain the economic status of retired school employees. ARTA works to promote community service at the local level. ARTA is for ALL retired school personnel (teachers, administrators, secretaries, custodians, cooks, paraprofessionals, etc.).
